Material

For the metal design in our jewellers´ workshop, various materials are being applied.

Wrought iron – the most pristine material – is malleable and shapeable and is for the most part open die forged.
Forging bronze – which captivates with its warm sparkle and soft forms – is excellently suitable for arranging details.

Silver – most noble, the classic of jewellery making – is applied for our jewellery pieces mostly in its pure form (999), but also as sterling silver (925).

Copper – durable and beautiful – is suitable for repoussé work of all kind. Copper pendants are always popular.
Damascene steel – legendary and mysterious, a feast for the eyes due to its vivid surface outline – is nowadays a popular material for sword and knife production again. It features extreme stability, toughness and sharpness. We forge Damascenes and work them up to jewellery, but primarily to knife blades.

Forged iron with its typical handling marks has its own aesthetic charm. Surfaces of our works are oftentimes left unwrought or just lubricated.

The road from material to form is supposed to remain visible and tangible. These untreated works are not fixed; they change during seasons depending on air humidity and temperature, and attain a deliberate age patina over the course of time. If one desires to delay this process, one may handle the piece every now and then, and grease its surface – which is, due to the fascination of the material, a good idea and a haptic pleasure anyway.
Varnished and plated surfaces need less care, they maintain their look for years.
